Additional Solution

If the instructions for Windows and macOS did not help, try the following universal solutions.

Check the headset or external microphone

  • Make sure the headset plug is fully inserted into the correct computer jack, for wired devices.
  • Check that the Mute button on the headset is not pressed. It is usually located on the cable or on the headset itself.
  • Some wireless headsets have a microphone mute button directly on the device, so check that as well.
  • If the headset has two operating modes, for example, "stereo" and "headset", try switching the mode.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the microphone or headset to the computer.

Restart the browser

  1. Close the browser completely, including all tabs and windows.
  2. Open the browser again.
  3. If you use Google Chrome, you can force a restart by typing chrome://restart in the address bar and pressing Enter.
  4. After restart, open the interview page and check whether audio is available.

Restart the computer

  1. Save all open documents.
  2. Restart the computer:
    • Windows: Start -> Power -> Restart.
    • macOS: Apple menu -> Restart.
  3. After restart, open the browser again, go to the interview page, and check whether the microphone works.

Check another application

To understand whether the issue is in the browser or in the system in general:

  • Open any other application that uses the microphone, for example, Voice Recorder in Windows or QuickTime Player in macOS.
  • Try recording your voice.
  • If the microphone works in another application, the issue is in the browser settings.
  • If the microphone does not work anywhere, the issue is in the operating system settings or the hardware.
